At the last stop downtown, near the South Ferry on the one train, I encountered a group holding signs advocating for immigrants’ rights. I was shocked to see protesters outside Whitehall, as this is my usual route home. However, it became clear that they had gathered to support immigrant vendors in the area, who were facing efforts by the NYPD to shut them down.
